Code 3 Designs started the way the best things do — not with a business plan, but with a gift. Kevin began making handcrafted pieces for friends, and word spread fast enough that what started as a passion project became something real. Since 2017, we've been building custom cutting boards, flags, wall art, resin pieces, and furniture, all made to order and shipped anywhere in the country.

Everything that leaves our shop has to clear one bar: would we be proud to give this to someone we care about? That standard came straight from Kevin's mother, who taught him early that if something is worth doing, it's worth doing right. It's the same standard he carried through 35 years in the fire service, and it's the one we hold every piece to before it ships.

Kevin Fildes spent 35 years in the fire service, rising to Assistant Fire Chief before an on-the-job injury ended his career. Retirement didn't come easy — woodworking did. He started spending time in his shop, putting on music, and getting lost in the work. It turned out to be exactly the kind of therapy that doesn't come with a prescription.

These days Kevin channels the same focus and pride he brought to the fire service into every piece he builds. His wife will tell you it's not just woodworking — it's wood, canvas, epoxy resin, and spray paint, whatever the project calls for. What drives all of it is the same hope: that something he made with his hands brings a little joy to the person who receives it.
